Our mission at The Wild Path School is to guide women into reclamation of their innate wholeness and wild self through curious, embodied, receptive and expressive experiences with nature. Through these experiences we hope to nurture a deepening felt sense relationship to earth, spirit and soul of all life.
Do you remember the first time you were told to sit still, to be quiet? To stop being silly? Can you still feel the burning shame of being told off in front of the class? For being too loud, or too quiet, for not 'fulfilling your potential'? Perhaps you still feel the sting of criticism, the exhaustion of being the 'good girl', or the pressure to be a straight A student so as not to disappoint.
Many of us don't even remember the first time we learned that it wasn't ok to express ourselves in ways that felt natural and authentic. In Western culture the disconnection from our true nature begins at an early age, as we experience shame, judgement, discipline, ridicule. instruction and expectations on our conformity. For our wild self, school was an unpleasant, and often traumatic experience, although we might not have known it at the time.
At The Wild Path School we believe that our current systems of education are stifling of the creativity and curious spirit within human beings. Natural curiousity that brings us into our conversation with all life, and helps us to find our meaning and purpose from an authentic, soul centric place.
This disconnection is mirrored across most of contemporary western society, present in our institutions, workplaces and families. A severance has occurred between the human and the rest of life through a conditioned belief that we are all separate. We have forgotten our part and place in the great cycle of all life, abandoning and suppressing so much of our beautiful and natural self in order to find value and belonging in a culture that fears the wildness of nature and the wildness of woman.
This rupture of the very core of our identity, the denial of our truth and authenticity and suffocation of our soul can lead us into feelings of inadequacy, guilt, low self esteem, anxiety, low mood, resentment and unfulfillment. Behind this there is often a deep longing. A yearning, an ache, a hunger for a different way of being. A deep bone knowing that there is more to us, more that awaits us and more to this one wild and precious life.
Here at the Wild Path School you will learn to remember who you are, underneath the layers of conditioning and false narratives that keep you small, stuck and trapped in old patterns and habits. We will show you the map, hand you the compass and walk beside you as you make passage into the vast wilderness of your being.
Our work is underpinned by the knowing that we are of the Earth, a part of nature and not separate from any other being.
We believe that all beings, animate and inanimate carry their own unique essence, or spirit, and that we are all weaved together, cycles within cycles, circles within circles, wholes within a greater whole.
We work from the premise that the separation existing between humans and the rest of nature is the root cause of most of our suffering and that by returning to a meaningful and reciprocal relationship to earth and cosmos we can break free from the trappings of our pain and realise the potential of our human existence.
We hold an unshakeable belief that we are all born whole and with the innate resources that will allow us to thrive, but that our culture does not support the embodiment of this wholeness, rather it causes the fragmentation of our psyche.
We believe that by coming into relationship with these fragments, our wounded parts, while cultivating the inner resource's of our psyche, we open up to a new conversation with ourselves and the world that if embraced and tended to will lead us into an eco centric, soul centric way of being.
We are curious about eco feminist perspectives and identify with the notion that the oppressive patriarchal system that sustains the damaging dualisms prevalent throughout society, denigrates women (and other non dominant groups of humans) and nature. We have alchemised our grief at the oppression and subordination of both to fuel our purpose of guiding women back to their true and untamed nature.
We know that spiritual elitism can be a barrier to many women feeling able to answer the call back to their wildness. Our spaces welcome all women, regardless of age, body size, material wealth, sexual orientation or experience. You wont find competition, judgement, superiority or 'high vibes only' here.
Our aim is to be welcoming of non-binary femmes and women with different experiences of womanhood. Some of the content in our programmes and events might not resonate or feel appropriate for you as a gender diverse person, so please get in touch for a chat if you are called to something but aren't sure if it's the right space for you.
We acknowledge our eurocentric conditioning and are committed to ongoing conversation, critical thinking, reflection and action that challenges colonialist practice, our own and others.
We believe that the healing of humanity and the earth will not come from technological solutions, but from a deep remembering and reconnection to ourselves as part of nature. Our work seeks to support this reconnection to serve the healing of all life.
Our offerings are all curated with our Embodied Reclamation℠ framework at their heart. Our framework isn't a 'step by step' approach, we don't believe the journey flows the same for every woman and it certainly isn't a linear process, what it offers is an experiential and explorative map to help guide you from fragmentation to reclamation. It has been developed from our extensive experience, knowledge and learning in the realms of ecopsychology, eco somatics, somatic psychology and spiritual ecology, as well as drawing on evidence based methodology developed by thought leaders and researchers in these fields.
